DofE Bronze Expedition Success
This weekend, 32 of our Year 10 students successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition after the original attempt had to be postponed last summer due to extremely hot weather.
Thankfully, the rearranged expedition was blessed with ideal conditions — warm and sunny, but not too hot — allowing students to fully enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside as they walked their planned routes.
Across the two-day expedition, students demonstrated excellent determination, teamwork and independence. They navigated between checkpoints, carried all of their own equipment, cooked meals for themselves, and set up camp for the night. Pleasingly, tents remained standing, meals were successfully prepared, and spirits stayed high throughout.
The evening included a visit to a wonderfully spooky woodland area, plenty of marshmallow toasting, and at least a few hours of sleep before an early start on day two.
Most importantly, every student finished the expedition safely, successfully and with a real sense of pride in what they had achieved.
Congratulations to the 32 students who completed the expedition and can now move on to finishing the remaining sections of their Bronze Award.
A huge thank you must also go to the staff team who gave up their time to support the expedition and help make such a positive experience possible for our students.
