Year 10

TERM 1
Plastics Challenge
Year 10 are following on from their waste management project last year with work toward a Crest Discovery Award Plastics challenge that is sponsored by the charity Practical Action. Year 10 will be researching the chemistry of plastics and designing and marketing items that reduce the amount of plastic that is thrown away.

TERM 2
Space flight
As part of a Bronze Crest Award, Year 10 will be studying space exploration and using the film The Martian as inspiration to build a vertical garden. Their STEM ambassador partner will be a space scientist from Oxford University.

TERM 3
Hit and Run
Year 10 will be working towards a Bronze Crest Award relating to car accidents. Stem ambassadors from JLR and Kineton MOD will be working with them.

TERM 4
Internet of Things
With links to STEM engineers who work with satellites, Year 10 will investigate the internet of things and design their own control systems.

TERM 5
Air Ambulance
Year 10 will work on their fundraising skills as part of The Crew in partnership with Air Ambulance.

TERM 6
Work Experience
Year 10 will work on their 21st Century skills in preparation for their work experience week. They will complete their iDEA badges and develop their CVs.

Year 11

TERM 1
What’s in food?
Year 11 will be working towards a Bronze Crest award that links to their GCSE biology specification.

TERM 2
Where is food from?
Year 11 will explore food sourcing to extend their cross cultural skills. There are links with McDonald’s career development.

TERM 3
Follow up from work experience
With visits to local engineering employers like Collins Aerospace, Year 11 will reflect on their work experience from last year and plan future steps.

TERM 4
Packaging
There is the opportunity here to study for another Crest Award and visit more local employers like JDE.
